The AI-powered Summarize function will work with the Reader mode of the Safari browser.
Now, with the most recent developer beta version from the firm, compatible iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices can now enjoy Apple Intelligence features. Users running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 developer beta on Monday could take advantage of features including writing tools, contextual awareness in Siri, and automatic movie production in the Photos app. The AI-powered Summarise function, which provides concise summaries of publications and web pages, is now available for the Safari browser as well.
AI Summarize Feature Arrives in Safari Browser
The release notes from the firm emphasized the new features of Apple Intelligence. An early preview version of the AI-powered Summarize feature was also made available, and 9to5Mac was the first to notice it. According to the article, Safari's Reader mode is where you can use this capability.
Users are apparently able to see the new Apple Intelligence logo and a Summarize button at the top of the screen when using Safari in Reader mode. It is stated that an animation scanning the page's contents shows on the screen when the button is tapped. There are reports that the animation has a purple Apple Intelligence glow to it.
It is said that the scanning process takes only a few seconds, after which the summary is produced. The M4-powered iPad Pro, the MacBook Air with the M1 chipset, and the iPhone 15 Pro were found to have the feature by the newspaper. On the iPhone, the summary is allegedly visible at the top of the page, while on the iPad and Mac, it is shown in a sidebar.
In addition to Summarise, the iOS 18.1 developer beta release included previews of a number of other Apple Intelligence capabilities. A report claims that Siri now understands context and is able to carry out tasks and respond to questions even when given ambiguous instructions. Its user interface is also redesigned.
According to reports, the Photos app now has a new AI capability that allows it to make movies with the Memory Movie option. With the help of text prompts, users can personalize the movie in any way they choose. According to reports, Writing Tools have also made their appearance. Users can now use this tool to proofread content with grammatical and spelling checks across a number of first-party apps. Additionally, they may rewrite text in various tonalities.
